"With restraint and subtlety, the Kessler Riesling produces a singular music, combining the breadth of clays with the vibrant, saline grain of sandstones. Already highly expressive, it is capable of defying the test of time. (RVF Guide 2023)

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
An emblematic Bergholtz estate for two generations now. The 18 hectares of biodynamic vineyards are the result of the union of Jean Dirler and Ludivine Cadé. In the range, the fine terroirs of Saering, Kitterlé, Kessler and especially Spiegel have great ageing potential, allowing the slight residual sugars to melt away.

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :
Sensitive and experienced winemakers, Jean Dirler and his wife Ludivine are at the helm of this estate, founded in 1871, handed down from father to son for five generations, and biodynamic since 1998. Whatever the grape variety, the precision of the wines, their density and maturity have never been better: an impressive range of great dry white wines culminates in the magnificent expressions of the Spiegel, Saering, Kessler and Kitterlé grands crus, which must be discovered, and which are now named after the four elements (fire, air, earth, water). This too discreet house offers a remarkable welcome, and many wines are available in older vintages.

About the wine:
Ludivine Hell-Cadé and Jean Dirler have not only married, they've married their respective parcels of Kessler Grand Cru. From this protected site, the Riesling Kessler Grand Cru 2020 has a subtle nose of stone and dried herbs. There's a lovely flavor and a beautifully nuanced leveling of lemon and lime notions, quite appetizing. The finish is a concert of ripe, tart citrus peel. Charming, long-lasting, highly aromatic and bone-dry (Sec à l'os).
