"The expression of Riesling and the richness of the terroir"

"The complex and vibrant nose of wild herbs and flowers draws you into this extremely compact and precise dry Riesling, which skillfully underplays its power and concentration. It is still very young and will improve further after a few years in the bottle, but there is no doubt that this wine is already very upright and structured. Extremely long and complete finish. Drink now, but preferably from 2025 onwards. (James Suckling 2022)

Wine rated (2024 guide) 95/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

With a salty, full-bodied palate and powerful floral aromas, this wine is deeply rooted in its soil; here too, the terroir dominates the grape variety.

About the estate:

Bergholtz's iconic estate for two generations now. The 18 hectares of biodynamic vineyards are the result of the union between Jean Dirler and Ludivine Cadé. Within the range, the beautiful terroirs of Saering, Kitterlé, Kessler, and especially Spiegel have great aging potential, allowing the slight residual sugars to mellow.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 95/100

Rated estate (2025 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)

About wine:

Impressive saline tension in the Kitterlé Riesling, full of sap and smoky brilliance on the finish: a straightforward, sharp, deep wine with exceptional persistence and intensity of flavors.

About the estate:

Sensitive and experienced winemakers, Jean Dirler and his wife Ludivine are at the helm of this estate founded in 1871, passed down from father to son for five generations and biodynamic since 1998. Regardless of the grape variety, the wines have never been so well-balanced, dense and mature: an impressive range of great dry white wines culminates in the magnificent expressions of the Spiegel, Saering, Kessler and Kitterlé grands crus, which are a must-try and are now named after the four elements (fire, air, earth and water). This estate offers a remarkable welcome and many wines are available in older vintages. The exceptional quality of the entire range in recent vintages has earned it a third star this year.
