Château de Pizay
Since 1981, Château de Pizay has been owned by a subsidiary of the regional agricultural insurance company Groupama Rhône Alpes. The estate extends over 80 hectares around Château de Pizay, 40 of which are planted with vines. A tenant farm in the neighboring commune of Régnié-Durette produces Régnié, the tenth and last Beaujolais Cru. The acquisition in 1998 of Château de Saint Lager, an 8-hectare estate at the foot of the famous Brouilly hill, added a fresh, seductive cru to the range: Brouilly Château de Saint Lager.

The Château de Pizay estate cultivates vines in several appellations: Beaujolais rouge, Morgon, Régnié, Beaujolais blanc and Brouilly. The Château de Pizay vineyards are planted exclusively with Gamay noir à jus blanc for the red wines and Chardonnay for the white wines. All Château de Pizay wines are vinified, matured and bottled on the estate.

White Beaujolais represents less than 1% of Beaujolais production. A treasure of rare delicacy, this white is the hidden face of the Pizay vineyard, the pearl of the Château. It boasts a luminous color and a very intense Chardonnay nose, blending scents of white flowers, hawthorn, bramble... with a finish of lime blossom. Add to this a fresh, tender palate, and you've got a wine that' s a must-have in this appellation!

The fruit of Beaujolais, the charm of a Burgundy...

The hamlet of Morgon which gave its name to the appellation, is located at the foot of the "Py" hill. Château de "Py" zay may well owe its toponym to this eminence. On this site, it owns a tiny plot of 45 ares that gives rise to this cuvée spéciale et limitéeThe soil is very rich in rock debris and mineral salts, enabling the Gamay grapes to impart the power and structure befitting this cuvée for laying down. This Morgon Cuvée du Py which requires a little patience, will be aged for up to ten years, and when its tannins have melted, it will be called "morgonne"...
