"A safe bet

"Leading the 2018 vintage, Lirac La Dame Rousse 2018 is an equal blend of Grenache and Syrah aged entirely in stainless steel tanks. It's a more open and expressive wine than the more structured Reine des Bois; it has plenty of Provencal charm, passing through aromas and flavors of spicy red and black fruits, peppery garrigue and incense. It's already hard to resist this charming, medium-bodied 2018, which should drink well in about 4-5 years." (Jeb Dunnuck) A cuvée combining power and freshness that will delight fans of wines typical of the South!

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

The domaine offers expressive wines from the finest crus of the Vaucluse and Gard regions. Everything is done with the utmost respect for the terroirs, with the determination to produce wines worthy of their potential. Madeleine Delorme, accompanied by her daughter Ambre, carry on with great care and determination in the spirit of excellence that is the hallmark of the domaine and this winegrowing family. A superb range of saline, fleshy whites and deep, delicate reds, driven by thirst-quenching tension and balance. The domaine's style is increasingly racy and precise. The fourth star is fast approaching.

Rated wine (2019 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

A supple, slender, harmonious style for this classic Lirac with pleasant black fruits and a touch of pepper. Ripe, with good acidity and well-controlled tannins. Correct length too - not particularly complex, but successful for this vintage. Organic, hand-harvested, fermented and aged in stainless steel.

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

Created in 1986 by Francis Delorme and his son Christophe, the 58-hectare estate (certified organic and biodynamic) is spread over 38 parcels and eight communes. Following Christophe's untimely death in 2015, his wife Madeleine and their daughter Ambre took over the reins of the estate. A firm believer in low yields, the Delorme family is equally at home with tavel, lirac, châteauneuf-du-pape and "simple" côtes-du-rhône. Not to be missed.

Typical Lirac, fruity to perfection, not too powerful. A wine for friends, even for aperitifs

A great fan of the "reine des bois" from the same estate, I'm a little disappointed by this wine. Rather discreet aromas of red fruit and garrigue, a silky texture but excessive acidity in the end. It's not bad, but you can find much better wines for less at many other estates in Lirac, such as Chateau de Ségries, Chateau de Manissy, Domaine Maby, the little-known but brilliant Chateau Devoy-Martine, or Domaine Bouchassy.

Méridional pure juice with ripe, sparkling fruit flavors of blackcurrant, raspberry and cherry, which jostle pleasantly on the palate with hints of spice and garrigue. Volume, texture and fine, supple, powdery tannins carry us through to a fresh, salivating finish. Thanks to its subtle balance, we forget all about the 14.5%. La Mordorée confirms the consistency of its fine Lirac, which has earned it the status of one of the best references in this appellation. However, a victim of its own success, Dame Rousse is starting to become expensive to buy. Suitable for ageing, this well-opened 2018, at 18°, is the harmonious partner of mignons de biche, cranberries and small ceps freshly picked in the Cévennes.
