"Together, Grenache Noir and Cinsault typically make up around 60% of this cuvée, while Grenache Blanc, Mourvèdre and Syrah make up most of the rest. Tavel la Forcadiere 2022 is a medium-translucent ruby in the glass, with a hint of copper. On the nose, scents of crushed stone join notes of ripe cherry and strawberry, while the full-bodied palate is remarkably taut, supported by generous acidity. The wine finishes strong, with plenty of persistent citrus notes and a slightly silky texture." (Wine Advocate 2023)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
At this historic Tavel estate, the Maby family produces wines of uniform quality, always honest, pleasant and fleshy. Managed by the dynamic Richard Maby, the domaine continues to progress, with the wines gaining in precision every year. The vineyards are located in the communes of Tavel, the Lirac plateau and in the neighboring Côtes du Rhône. Reasonable prices and consistent quality make this estate a sure bet on today's market, in all three colors.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
This estate, which is highly consistent in terms of quality, notably for its lirac, in all 3 colors, and tavel, was founded in 1950 by Armand Maby. In 2005, his grandson Richard took over the reins of the 53-hectare vineyard, mostly located on the rolled pebbles of the Vallongue plateau; the vines are cultivated "au naturel", and will be converted to organic farming in 2019. Since 2011, Philippe Cambie, an eminent Rhône nologist, has been advising the estate.

Wine Enthusiast
Rated wine (guide 2023) 91/100
About the wine:
Orange with ruby hues, the texture and freshness of this Tavel are very pleasant. Notes of fresh cherries and ripe Gala apples are balanced by herbs, pink pepper and a stony finish. Great to enjoy now, or during the autumn, try pairing it with tomato-based stews.
Gilbert & Gaillard
Wine rated (guide 2023) Double Gold Medal
About the wine:
Clear, light red color. Fruity nose, discreet at first, revealing precise red fruit notes with aeration. On the palate, a lovely, fleshy texture with plenty of freshness and aromas that have lost their shyness. A promising vintage.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 01/03/2024
In contrast to the lively, highly perfumed cuvée Prima Donna, La Forcadiere is characterized by a virile, voluminous, fat mouthfeel, with a prevalence of vegetal notes, followed by abundantly spicy red berries, enhanced by marked acidity. While remaining fresh, the tannic structure, slightly vinous, contributes to the persistence of the slightly chalky finish. Forget the aperitif and enjoy this strong Tavel with Italian-style baked bruschetta. Score = 3.6.
