"What a wealth of flavors in this colorful vintage!"

Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache are blended in equal proportions in this cuvée, which offers aromas of leather, pepper, and red fruits preserved in brandy. The palate is full-bodied, generous, and round, infused with ripe fruit and licorice, and supported by fine tannins on the finish. (Le Guide Hachette 2023)

About wine:

Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache are blended in equal parts in this cuvée, which offers aromas of leather, pepper, and red fruits preserved in brandy. The palate is full-bodied, generous, and round, infused with ripe fruit and licorice, and supported by fine tannins on the finish.

About the estate:

The origins of the estate, which has been passed down through six generations, date back to 1864. The property boasts a 25-hectare vineyard planted on a variety of terroirs. At the helm since 1989, Pierre and Marie-Claude Fontaneil have been producing wines with strong personalities for nearly 30 years, including both dry wines and naturally sweet wines. In 2017, they sold the estate to a young couple of winemakers, Élodie and Matthieu Collet.

Wine rated 93/100

About wine:

Dense core with a purple hue. Pure and fragrant, with notes of pepper and dried spices combined with ripe wild berries and plums. The palate shows maturity and density but remains medium-bodied and easy to drink, with a pleasant sensation of freshness, a rounded extract, and a long, flavorful finish.

Review and opinion by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on 02/26/2025

Striking purple color with ruby rim. Dark fruit, pepper, green herbs, and some reductive notes on the nose. Dark notes, dark fruit, slightly cooked and reductive, peppery, inky, earthy, and lava-like on the palate. Soft tannins, laurel drop, concentration, power, and masculine impressions. It will go well with spicy stewed meat. Still quite compact. Needs aeration, then it becomes a little friendlier/more open. Score: 15.5/20

Powerful, opulent, and eloquent on the palate, with juicy, rich flesh that blends red fruits, sweet spices, and a touch of zan, framed by a tannic structure with restrained power and a long, silky finish full of delicate freshness. A young wine with good aging potential. Its robust character and lovely roundness were already to its advantage with pan-fried Catalan pig's trotters and piperade with chorizo. Rating = 4.
