Domaine Fontanel - Côtes du Roussillon Villages Cabanac 2020
4.2/5 (4 reviews)
2*Étoiles Hachette
-
93/100 A. Larsson
One-third each of Carignan, Syrah and Grenache are used in this cuvée, which smells of leather, pepper and red fruits in brandy. Full-bodied, generous and round on the palate, infused with ripe fruit and licorice, with fine tannins on the long finish". (Le Guide Hachette 2023)
Domaine Fontanel - IGP Côtes Catalanes Hominus Sapanius 2021
1*Étoile Hachette
"This Syrah-dominated cuvée reveals a complex nose of red and black fruits, violets, garrigue spices and white pepper. The palate is soft, silky and focused on ripe fruit, supported by smooth tannins, a touch of freshness and a pretty spicy finish". (Le Guide Hachette 2024)
Domaine Fontanel - Maury Grenat 2021
5/5 (1 reviews)
1*Étoile Hachette
-
91-92/100 RVF
"After 24 days' maceration and 9 months' barrel ageing, it's normal to find a very deep garnet color, and above all a certain aromatic timidity before aeration. After an initial touch of wood, tapenade, very ripe cherry and blackcurrant appear with great intensity. Red fruit then asserts itself on a palate of elegant, soft, melted, balanced tannins. A wine to be waited for after opening for its full expression". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2024)
Domaine Fontanel - Côtes du Roussillon Tautavel Initium 2020
4/5 (1 reviews)
1*Étoile Hachette
-
16,5/20 Jancis Robinson
Cuvée Initium is "a wine for laying down, with a beautiful depth of color and fresh aromas of eucalyptus and morello cherry. This freshness is also evident on the firm, solid palate, structured by tannins that are still quite severe. Best cellared". (Le Guide Hachette 2024)
Domaine Fontanel - Muscat de Rivesaltes 2020
3.9/5 (9 reviews)
2*Étoiles Hachette
"Under a brilliant golden yellow hue, the aromas appear intense and fresh, with notes of exotic fruits (pineapple) and almond blossom. On the palate, the attack is greedy, followed by a perfect balance between freshness and smoothness". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)
Domaine Fontanel - Maury Grenat 2020
4.3/5 (3 reviews)
1*Étoile Hachette
"A few purplish tints adorn the ruby-red color of this garnet-red wine, which opens with the freshness of Morello cherry, followed by jammy fruit, finely spiced and coated by a lovely woodiness. Velvety, fresh and bursting with fruit, especially blackberry, the palate is full-bodied and sweet, with a touch of cocoa and astringency on the finish. A wine with character, and a gourmet pairing with chocolate fondant". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2023)
Domaine Fontanel - Côtes du Roussillon Tautavel Prieuré 2017
3.9/5 (17 reviews)
3*Coup de Coeur Hachette
"A deep, luminous garnet in harmony with exquisite scents of undergrowth, moss, mushrooms and liquorice. On the palate, we're surprised by the richness of the flavors, the balance and the unctuousness of the material imbued with black fruits, which envelops a melted tannic structure. The lingering finish is another major asset". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)
Domaine Fontanel - Maury Grenat 2019
3.8/5 (5 reviews)
2*Coup de Coeur Hachette
"You have to take the time to discover this Maury, by letting it open up in the glass. The aromas of red fruit (cherry, strawberry), black fruit (blackcurrant) and myrtle, nuanced with vanilla wood and a touch of coffee, rise in intensity. Time to savor the fleshiness of the fruit, appreciate the silkiness of the tannins, the volume, roundness and mastery of power. The whole is carried by a beautiful freshness, and the discreet woodiness melts into the fruit. Time, at last, to share this real pleasure". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)
Domaine Fontanel - Côtes du Roussillon Tautavel Prieuré 2016
1*Étoile Hachette
-
90/100 Decanter
"Warm and powerful, still in its youth, this wine presents, beyond the woodiness, a beautiful aromatic palette: thyme, licorice, vanilla and cocoa, followed by a mineral finish." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020)
Domaine Fontanel - Arrels 2018
3.7/5 (3 reviews)
16/20 RVF
"Straightforwardness sets the tone for this red, dominated by Grenache with liberated fruit. Still in its seductive tannic gangue, it draws its tension from a minty freshness on the finish. This more agile finish lifts the wine as a whole". (La Revue du Vin de France - June 2020) Late-harvested grapes bring fruit and concentration.
Domaine Fontanel - AMAE 2018

Made from old Grenache and Roussanne vines, this Côtes du Roussillon explores a broad palette of aromas (peach, acacia, pear). The barrel ageing brings brioche and caramel notes as well as a lovely roundness. A perfect match for grilled white meats and fish.

Domaine Fontanel - Maury Grenat - VDN rouge 2017
3/5 (3 reviews)
2*Étoiles Hachette
"On the black schists of Maury, Grenache noir is king, and it's in the grenats, young wines kept away from oxidation, thatit expresses all its deliciousness. A deep color, inherited from long maceration, immediately characterizes this 2017. The intense nose expresses red fruits (cherry and blackberry), nuanced with notes of scrubland, rockrose and the vanilla of the barrel. The palate is full-bodied, with cherry flavors (kirsch) that coat the tannins. The finish leaves a lingering impression of prune and dark chocolate". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020)
Domaine Fontanel - Maury Sec rouge 2016

90/100 Robert Parker
"Élodie and Matthieu Collet have followed in Pierre and Marie-Claude Fontaneil's footsteps in a very fine way, producing wines that have lost none of their personality. Here, they offer a superb vinification of Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre in vats. Brilliant, with an intense purple color, this 2016 presents a seductive nose of redcurrant, blueberry and pepper, evolving towards toast and leather. The palate is greedy, full-bodied and delicious, underpinned by a powerful yet velvety tannic structure with a fine, elegant grain. Great ageing potential". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)
