1er cru

"A 1er Cru for laying down, made to accompany fine game".

A tribute to the estate's history! It is made from the oldest vines planted in 1922, representing a surface area of 8 ouvrées (the name of the unit of measurement used for vines in Burgundy). Airy and slender, the palate reveals fresh red berries such as redcurrant.

Expert opinion

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 96/100 (Vintage 2020)

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

Run by the Devillard family, who also own Château de Chamirey in Mercurey, the vineyard is located on remarkable terroirs in the south of the Côte de Nuits, and its production is vinified in the spirit of modern wines, seeking high grape maturity and deep, voluptuous textures. The results have been convincing in recent years, starting with the communal appellations, with very fine juices when we knew them to be rather solid. All the possible fullness of 2018 has been captured here, and these will be wines for laying down, or even very long laying down for the nuits and the échezeaux. Also a lovely red Burgundy.
