The Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) is located on hills that stretch some 100 kilometers from north to south, and benefit from excellent sun exposure. Overlooking the Gironde Estuary, the Blayais vineyards boast an incredibly rich terroir. The rolling landscape is contrasted by the almost marine horizon of the estuary's banks: half river, half sea, the Gironde has set the pace for the history of this land. Vineyards are cultivated on plains, hillsides and high plateaus. The 240 days of sunshine a year and the many geological movements of the past give each of the terroirs in the three cantons of Blayais its own distinctive character.
