Maury Dry
The small vineyard of Maury is the most northerly of the Roussillon vineyards, mainly on the 1,000 hectares of the Maury commune and on certain "lieux dits" in neighboring communes. The appellation covers four communes in the Pyrénées-Orientales to the north-west of Perpignan: Maury, Tautavel, Saint-Paul de Fenouillet and Rasiguères.

Protected to the north by the Corbières mountain range and to the south by the rugged foothills of the Pyrenees, the vineyards of Maury is a natural corridor 17 km long and 4 km wide. Of the 1,000 hectares of black earth in the appellation zone (Aptian schist, non-metamorphic and often decomposed), 90% is planted with Grenache noir, complemented by Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre and sometimes Lledoner Pelut.

In 2011, the Vignerons de Maury cooperative obtained an extension of the Maury appellation to Maury Sec.

"High-flying red (RVF)".

"A wine soared with rain, rocks and roses. It fills the mouth vertically, then broadly, like choral music filling the high vault of a cathedral. The delicate dryness of the tannins brings breath and pauses, increasing the tension and lengthening the echo of its harmonies. A wine of great purity and determination". (Jancis Robinson 2023)

"A very fair fruit (RVF)".

"The dry maury Les Salines 2022, a plot selection composed of grenache and carignan, is a very fine wine for laying down, powerful, with thick tannins, but remaining digestible, with a beautiful underlying dynamism and very fair fruit." (Le Guide RVF 2025)

"A must-see

"A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Carignan and 10% Syrah aged in vats, Maury Sec Initial 2019 presents scents of crushed stone and black fruit on the nose. It's medium- to full-bodied, structured, with dusty tannins and a somewhat crisp finish. It could improve over the coming year, but should be drunk by 2025." (Wine Advocate 2021)

"The Maury Sec Borée 2017 is a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Carignan and 10% Syrah, all aged in vats. For its build (14.5% alcohol), it's incredibly crisp and structured, without harshness or over-extraction, with layers of red fruit and a hint of herbs and resins." (Wine Advocate 2019)

"New vintage

"Straightforwardness sets the tone for this red, dominated by Grenache with liberated fruit. Still in its seductive tannic gangue, it draws its tension from a minty freshness on the finish. This more agile finish lifts the wine as a whole". (La Revue du Vin de France - June 2020) Late-harvested grapes bring fruit and concentration.

90/100 Robert Parker

"Élodie and Matthieu Collet have followed in Pierre and Marie-Claude Fontaneil's footsteps in a very fine way, producing wines that have lost none of their personality. Here, they offer a superb vinification of Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre in vats. Brilliant, with an intense purple color, this 2016 presents a seductive nose of redcurrant, blueberry and pepper, evolving towards toast and leather. The palate is greedy, full-bodied and delicious, underpinned by a powerful yet velvety tannic structure with a fine, elegant grain. Great ageing potential in prospect". Cité Hachette

"Another fine wine, the 2015 Maury Sec Rocher des Buis, with 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah. Made from very old vines and low yields, it offers full-bodied, ripe and decadent notes of plums, berry fruits, spices and peppery herbs. It's going to be great on youth and I think it'll be well above 2014." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Jeb Dunnuck) Unquestionable value for money!

"A dominant Grenache noir grape variety, aged in vats for this fresh-fruit gem. While blackcurrant buds dominate the nose, the rich, round and fresh palate evokes ripe, tasty black cherry, before a spicy finish." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

"Akmé Maury sec 2016 is exclusively aged in concrete tanks. From a blend of 70% Grenache Noir and 30% Syrah, this wine is the perfect example of what this black schist terroir can produce. It's full-bodied and concentrated, the tannins are supple, the texture creamy; and also the structure has a fine grain, and is built on notes of shale stone chips. A surge of cherry and peppery spice aromas that linger on the finish." "This 2016 born of grenache (80%) and carignan, spent three months in vat, exudes sincerity. The nose is a magnificent basket of fruit: wild strawberry, cherry, fig, blackberry. Centered on intense aromas of licorice and jammy red fruits, the palate is just as gourmand, carried by velvety tannins and energized by a fresh finish that leaves an impression of elegance and harmony". "Displaying the most elegant, airy style of the vintage, the 2014 Maury Sec still offers superb depth and richness of aroma and texture. Notes of dry spices, raspberries and saltiness guide us to a medium-bodied, elegant and impeccably balanced red, offering plenty of character. You can count us among the fans. It offers far more depth and richness than most in this vintage." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker)
